It’s nearly the end of 2020, and we’re all hoping for a bright New Year that will offset the dire tone of this one. If you’re looking to ensure you have a fantastic 2021, why not let the Big Blue Collective help you shape the perfect beach vacation? 2021 is set to be one of the best times ever to travel and play- and here’s why!
Who doesn’t need a holiday?
We say it somewhat tongue-in-cheek…but let’s be honest, we all do! Not only have many of us missed out completely on our usual vacation time in 2020, but it’s also just been a rollercoaster year. It doesn’t matter where you live or how personally the global health crisis has touched your family, it’s been impossible to escape the tension that 2020 has brought. From a brewing political stand-off in the U.S to uncertainties over Brexit and innumerable local political tensions, right through the pandemic and stressful economic conditions it has caused, there’s a feeling of simply being worn out and over the struggle. 2020 wasn’t the year of greater vision and clarity we hoped for, for sure! With luck, however, 2021 will bring back a sense of normalcy to our lives- and what better way to ease back into the day-to-day patterns of doing things than with a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday to set a positive tone?
Lockdown lessening
The Turks and Caicos have responded admirably to the Coronavirus pandemic from day one. Of course, it’s always a little easier to deal with controlled entrances and exits when you are an island nation with only a few entry points over your border. The Big Blue Collective team still think everyone’s due a lot of kudos for a stellar handling of the crisis. That’s why we were able to reopen our borders (under strict provisions) as early as we could. To date, our increasing visitor numbers haven’t had any adverse effect on local cases, and we’re still looking great. With promising developments on the vaccine front, too, we’re fully confident 2021 will see less lockdown throughout the world, meaning easier, smoother travels for all.
Why winter at home when you can spend it on the beach?
One of the very best parts about a vacation to the Turks and Caicos is that our winters are glorious. In fact, winter is our peak season to visit! That’s because we are spoilt with all-year-round beach weather. The water stays blue and beautiful, warmed to a perfect 74-84 degrees F (23-29 degrees C) year-round. Most folks enjoy our winters the best, as the temperatures are fractionally cooler, and the invigorating trade winds steady and pretty predictable. This makes it the ideal time for sun, surf and sea. Winter also has the added drawcard of coinciding with the annual humpback whale migration, an unmissable event.
Summer can be a little too hot for some folks, and it’s technically our ‘monsoon season’, although we only rarely receive the hectic climatic events some other island nations do. It’s still a great time to come and play, however, if that’s the season that suits you best. There’s also always some great off-peak deals to take advantage of. In the end, the best time to visit the TCI is up to you. Officially, the seasons run:
- June-October: Summer (and hurricane season)
- November- May: Winter
A holiday jam-packed with activity
One of the very best things about a holiday in the TCI is that it can be as relaxed, or as active, as you choose. With our powder-soft white beaches calling you to lounge and relax, you could easily spend all day basking in the sun. Yet our calm, flat seas and unique geography make this area a hub of wind- and water sports.
Here you’ll find diving sites thronging with colourful fish and unexplored nooks. One of the biggest and best-preserved coral reefs in the world calls you to explore with a snorkel or even a full dive. Scull your stand-up paddle board slowly over the water, exploring mangrove channels redolent with natural history. Rays and fish, and even mini sharks, will flit beneath you in the crystal-clear water. Or enjoy yourself with a slow paddle with your kayak and a picnic on a near-deserted beach to watch the sunset.
Kiteboarding in the TCI is one of the best in the world. We have the perfect blend of shallow, warm water and predictable trade winds for learners, but still have challenging backdrafts and channels surrounded by remarkable natural beauty for those looking for excitement and challenge.
Don’t let all the adrenaline-pumping adventure prevent you from taking one of our eco-tours to the out islands, however!1 Despite there being over 40 islands in the Turks and Caicos, very few of these are inhabited. Many of the ‘back islands’, as we call them, offer breathtaking, pristine beauty that cannot be experienced anywhere else in the world. The Big Blue Collective is proud to be able to offer a unique, ethical series of eco-tours to experience this heart-stopping beauty for yourself, in a way that leaves no traces on the environment.
When you’re done, be sure to book yourself a private yacht cheater for the Turks and Caicos, so you can explore the seas at your whim too. From being the ideal platform for exciting diving and snorkelling adventures, to simply being the perfect way to float and chill, a private boat charter in the TCI gives you a unique experience you can’t replicate elsewhere.
2021 is going to be a great year- so why not treat yourself? Come vacation in the Turks and Caicos with the Big Blue Collective and let the cares of 2020 wash away. Your only worry will be how soon you can book another vacation!
