The end of the year is coming! While you may be with us in not believing how quickly time has flown by this year, there’s no better time than the present to start planning your 2023 adventures. Whether you’re hoping to squeak by early in the year to catch the last of whale-watching season, or looking to plan a long vacation here for later in the year, your Turks and Caicos adventure is waiting for you to say yes- and the Big Blue Collective are here to help make your dreams come true.

A Winter Away

One of the biggest draw cards for the Turks and Caicos is how near to ‘home’ we are for so many people- but our best weather happens in the Northern Hemisphere winter! So if you’re looking to escape a dreary cold season in the city, treat yourself over the festive year end break, or simply want an excuse to work on your tan while everyone else is huddled inside, look no further- the islands await you!

Here in the TCI, we get about 350 sunny days a year, with whether that’s as predictable, mild, and pleasant as any you’ll find. With the brisk and steady trade winds helping to keep you cool even while the tropical sun blazes, our winters see a glorious 75˚F-80˚F / 24˚C-27˚C (December through to March) that’s sure to pep up your flagging spirits. While summer trends are a little hotter, making it our off-peak season, there’s still plenty to explore and enjoy on the islands, so don’t be shy!

Simple to Get To

And there’s even more great news- the islands are super simple to get to, too! For residents of the US, UK, or Canada, you won’t even need a visa to stop by and say hi! The thriving island hub of Provo handles most international flights into the island, and most of our visitors choose to stay there, too. Even if there’s no direct flight from your country, almost all major US airports offer flights into the TCI, so connecting is a breeze. There’s also docking for private yachts, and many cruise lines make a swing past the islands too.

Fun in the Sun

The TCI is one of the best tropical holiday destinations in the world. Due to the unique topography of the islands, here you will find shallow, warm waters near the shore, perfect for travellers with little ones or newcomers to the wealth of watersports available on the island. But if you’re an old hand at snorkelling, stand up paddleboarding, diving, or kitesurfing, offshore lies deeper waters and a challenge you’re sure to enjoy. Our famous dive sites include reefs, wrecks, and even some walls, so there’s plenty to stretch your skills. And a riot of tropical fish will accompany you wherever you roam.

During the whale migration, stretching from the start of the festive season and peaking in January to March, you can see these massive marine mammals at play, breeching and displaying to attract mates, or playing with their young ones. And the local dolphins love to investigate boat and yacht traffic around the islands- you may even meet the famous JoJo!

The TCI is home to the third-largest coral reef in the world, and one that’s near pristine, too. With the care and love the local curators have for this exquisite corner of the earth, we are ensuring it stays that way, too!

Meet the local marine life at our protected marine reserves, or head off up the coast to explore the sheltered coves and bays that shape our unique coastline. Opt for a stand up paddleboard or kayaking experience down the unique mangrove channels, and look down through the crystal-clear water at the rays and lemon sharks frolicking around you. Picnic on a near-deserted beach, and then head back to your private yacht charter to round out a day of fun in the sun.

Explore a Rich History

While the lure of the surf is sure to call you in this stunning local, there’s plenty to keep you occupied on land, too. From a day spent admiring the historic lighthouse (and snagging a delicious ice cream or three) in the Bohemian architecture and natural beauty of Grand Turk, to a wild adventure in the back islands and their unspoilt tropical environment, there’s plenty to keep you on your feet. Find the lost ruins of the salt trade and cotton plantations that once powered the area’s economy, explore its history in the local museums, or just enjoy the sights and sounds of the active harbours.

The Lap of Luxury

Provo is packed with ultra-modern shops and boutiques, delicious restaurants and bars (many with beach views) and while the nightlife is quieter then in some of the Caribbean and Bahamas locations, there’s still plenty to keep you entertained. Whether you want to meet the locals and enjoy live music, or sip cocktails on the beach, your dreams await you.

While there are some resorts on Provo, many visitors prefer to carve out a slice of extra luxury and enjoy a private villa rental as their oasis of calm on the islands. With your own sacred space to call home on the islands, you can rest, rejuvenate, and get ready for another fun-filled day at play.
